What is rock climbing?

Rock climbing is the sport of ascending rock cliffs. Imagine a building sized jungle gym that all ages can play on! Denver Climbing Company uses specialized safety equipment, like ropes and harnesses.

Do I need experience?

No experience is required. We specialize in teaching you all the skills required to safely and efficiently participate. Our instructional methods will have you climbing quickly and confidently the same day.

Do I need equipment?

No. Denver Climbing Company will provide all the required technical equipment. This may include rock climbing shoes, harnesses, helmets, and more. If you have your own equipment, you are welcome to bring it.

Trip Preperation

  • Raincoat (you never know!)
  • Water
  • Energizing Snacks
  • Camera

AT LEAST 3 standard size water bottles per participant. It can get very hot during summer and we guarantee you will be happy to have extra. Don’t have time to stop by the store? Ask your guide at arrival for complimentary water.

Yes! Our shuttle bus is available daily May through August. Let us know your pick up address when prompted on the booking form and we’ll scoop you up. Be ready by 8:30am on the day of your climb.  For distant hotels, we may require an earlier pick up time.

Of course! Please take as many pictures as you like. Your guide will also take complimentary pictures and send them to you. Please allow up to 48 hours to receive the images.

Shoes : Tennis Shoes, Sneakers, Approach Shoes, etc. work great.

Clothing: Depending on the weather forecast, dress comfortable in outdoor sporting attire or casual clothes. Whatever makes you comfortable during a physical activity.

Pro-Tip: Avoid shorts with very short legs. The harness straps can become uncomfortable.

No. We recommend bringing same energizing snacks like trail mix or protein bars. We do not generally have time for a sit down lunch.

An Important Note About Cannabis

No, you can not consume cannabis and climb. We reserve the right to refuse service if cannabis consumption is suspected.

Safety Questions

No. Anything humans do is not 100% safe. Denver Climbing Company follows all safety standards, uses professional equipment, and has highly trained guides, but it would be unethical to say there is never a chance of injury.

There is no weight limit, however our equipment will fit up to a 42 inch waste.

No. As long as we can safely fit the child in our equipment, they can climb. We have had children as young as 4 years old climb with out any fitting issues.  And you’re never to old to climb.

Let us know ahead of time of any health concerns that may arise.  Our guides are trained in wilderness medicine and are ready to assist.

Weather and Refunds

If the weather conditions create unsafe conditions like heavy rain, lightning, or snow, we will cancel the trip.  If this happens, you will be provided a full refund or reschedule. Cancellations usually happen with in 24 hours of your climb.

If the weather turns bad while you are on a climb, your guide will assess the danger and decide if the conditions merit a cancellation. If your climb is cancelled early, you can either receive a 50% refund or a reschedule(at no additional cost).

At Denver Climbing Company, we understand plans change. We provide a full refund up to 24 hours before your climb. All cancellations with in 24 hours of your climb will not receive a refund.

Large groups may be subject to different rules as stated in your contract.

No problem! Denver Climbing Company always provides no-fee reschedules. Your ability to reschedule is based on availability. Worried your trip might be cancelled? Give us a call 888-560-6994.

Additional Questions

No. We have all levels of fitness participate. It is a myth that you need to be able to do a pull-up to climb. We’ll show you! Please note, there is a moderate hike to our climbing location.

Yes. There is a bathroom at the parking lot. We recommend using this facility before the course begins.

Unlikely but altitude sickness effects everyone differently.  At the elevation of our climbing location, most people don’t experience symptoms.
